Simon’s early love of playing and performing music led him down the path of audio engineering  and production. Beginning his career at Studios 301 in Byron Bay (Aus), Simon interned after  the completion of his BA (Hons) in Recording Arts at SAE.

After moving back to Auckland, he started at York Street Studios in May 2006, and has since become one of the house-engineers. As an engineer and producer based at York Street Simon has had the opportunity of working  with some of the best bands and musicians in New Zealand, while also continuing to perform  and compose music in various groups.

In 2009 Simon worked on the Seven Worlds Collide Album project at Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios, where he ran one of the three studios setup to accommodate three hectic weeks of recording. His work on this record led to one of his recordings being released on Radiohead drummer Phil Selway’s first solo world-wide release, ‘Familial’. He has worked extensively with Welsh producer Greg Haver, including travelling to the UK to engineer an album for Scottish band Drive By Audio at Modern World Studios.

Recent production projects include recording and mixing the orchestral music for the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup 2011, travelling to Australia to record an album for Melbourne band A Dead Forest Index, and singles for P!nk, Drax Project, Alien Weaponry, Josh Leys and many more
